Distance:

400m swim / 13.2km bike / 4.4km run

The swim is an open water ocean swim with water safety provided by Port Kembla Surf Lifesaving Club. The ride takes place on a road closed to general traffic. The run takes place on the footpath.

ITC club races are open to athletes of all levels and abilities. On race day, if you don't feel like getting in the water, you will have the option to sit out the swim and race a duathlon instead. You can also race a shorter version of the race. Just chat to the timers on the day.

Volunteer to marshall

All ITC club members are expected to marshall one race per year. You can register to marshall online.

The 400m swim is a 2-lap open water ocean swim off Fisherman's Beach, adjacent to Port Kembla Senior College.

The 13.2km bike is a 6-lap course of approximately 2.2km per lap. Riders start each lap from the Port Kembla Senior College and cycle down MM Road, turn at the bottom, and return back up the slight hill to the college.

The 4.4 km run is a 2-lap course of approximately 2.2km per lap. The run takes place on the footpath and largely follows the same route as the bike course.

If the water is too cold, a duathlon may be run instead. In this case the swim is replaced by a 1-lap, 2.2km run along the footpath. The bike leg and second run leg remain unchanged.

Important Information for Juniors:

The senior race described here is open to juniors who are at least 13 years old as at 31 December. Juniors who are 12 years of age on race day may compete in a shortened version of the senior race. Only confident swimmers and cyclists should register in this category. 12 and 13 year olds who have not previously done a triathlon or who are not confident swimmers or cyclists may compete in ITC kids races.
