His 9:03:40 found him in 21st place overall. His huge bike split of 4:50:22 was in the top 5 and less then 5 mins behind the powerhouse Jason Shortis. 21/03/04 Port Kembla Triathlon Race 6 Even though the day was overcast, the heat was still on during the event. The swim was held in very choppy conditions, which made swimming difficult for the weak swimmers. ITC welcomed the Indian and NSW Junior Development squads who also competed in the event. The Juniors stole the show with an impressive display on the day. James was the first club member through and gave the visitors a run for there money. Merja was once again the strongest of the female field with an impressive display. Click here for results

16/02/04 Port Kembla Triathlon Race 5 With only 2 more races this season the pace is really getting fast. For those that don't know half of the bike course has just been HOTMIXED. Now it is VERY fast. We had another great showing and the weather was cool and perfect. Once again we had a battle royal in the women's race. Today Tegan Makowski swam away with the win. She was closely followed by a recovering Merja Kivranta (Who won the Australian Long Course Championships just last weekend) with Trudi Barnes coming home for third. In the male race Nathan A'Bell, James Greathead and Kirk Vandeweghe had a great battle out front with Nathan having a strong ride that gave him a nice lead going into the run. James closed the margin on the run but the lead was just too big. Click here for results
18/01/04 Port Kembla Triathlon Race 4 After the rain of Friday and Saturday, Sunday morning was perfect weather for racing. With a few new members we had a good turn out of 32 taking part. There were only a few females out today but what a performance by new member Merja Kivranta showing why she races elite. Merja finished third overall and won the female race by 2m30s. 20/12/03 Port Kembla Triathlon Race 3 Another great day to have a race. A slightly new swim layout and a 3 wave start allowed everyone to get away cleanly in the swim. As for the race, Paul Micale had a good day out with his legs running down Rowan Allnutt and Phil Giles for the win. Newcomer to the club Merja from Finland was the winner in the female field. She had a very strong race to place ahead of Trudi Barnes.
06/12/03 Our Nicky TOP 10 in the World Today Nicky Joyce and Tanya Strevens raced in Queenstown, New Zealand at the ITU World Triathlon Championships. 09/11/03 Port Kembla Triathlon Race 2 What a great day for our second race of the year. 38 Athletes made their way to Port Kembla to test their skills. We had a great event, with the early pace showing that it would be a fast day out. First man home was our own Paul Wiedersehn, he displayed great speed to take the win. Within the ladies ranks Susanne Russell was just too strong and showed her true class by coming away with the win. There are no photos for the event as I just had to race given the great conditions. PS. We had a few questions regarding race entry fees today. CLICK HERE FOR CLUB RACE ENTRY FEES

25/06/03 Important News Dear All, The recent news item concerning the clamp down on cycle races is the late manifestation of what happened to us last November. It is not new impediment. Our race course at Port Kembla is a "sterile ' course and conforms to the police requirements. This was as a result of the effort put in buy your committee and especially Carolyn Dews. President Des
23/06/03 Compulsory Membership Triathlon was previously the only Olympic sport that did not insist on compulsory membership. Triathlon, as a sport needs to increase its members. In order for Triathlon to have a 'voice' for government funding, to help overcome the 'sterile road' issues, to seek sponsorship, to seek cheaper insurance and for the sport to grow and develop, it is imperative that every triathlete plays a roll in contributing to the sport. Triathlon NSW recognizes that is is important to encourage new people into the sport. Therefore Triathlon NSW has implemented the following distance or less to be exempt from compulsory membership. this will enable, juniors and those just starting out, to have a 'try' first. 400m Swim 15km Cycle 4km Run This distance will however still incur the Triathlon Australia 'one race membership' fee of $5.00 per race. Any triathlete competing in a triathlon over this distance must have compulsory membership
